CAN I USE THE LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRES?
Learning resource centres
All members of the Middlesex University Alumni Association may use the LRCs for reference purposes free of charge. Borrowing rights are allowed on the payment of a fee. Please state at registration which alternative you would prefer. If required, it is possible to upgrade from reference to borrowing rights at a later date.
First visit
Please visit the LRC between 09:00 – 17:00 Monday – Friday and report to the reception desk/transaction desk. You will be registered as an external user and may continue to use your alumni membership card as identity. You may, if you wish, download the registration form here and complete it before your visit. You will not be allowed access as an alumna/us unless you have your card with you. However, you could enter as a visitor.
If you are entitled to register as a member of the Alumni, but have not already done so, please contact the Alumni Association or telephone +44 (0)20 8411 4973
Entitlements
After the first visit, you may enter the LRC at any time provided you have your Alumni membership card with you. If you wish to use the photocopiers, please contact the staff at the same desk and they will enable this for you.
Additional entitlements
Should you wish to become a borrowing member of the LRC, then you are entitled to do so at the reduced subscription rate of £30.00 per annum. This will entitle you to borrow five 28-day loans from any Middlesex University library. You may also renew a book that is on loan to you as long as the item has not been requested by another user. However, you will not be entitled to reserve books, use the inter library or short loan services or view closed access collections. In addition, access to licensed electronic resources is prohibited.
Procedure
If you wish to move to the borrowing scheme, then please return to the desk where you registered for your record to be amended, taking with you a passport-sized photograph (not Hendon). You will then receive a library borrowing card (most campuses) or an access control card (Hendon campus only) to enable you to use the service.
For more campus information and opening hours.
Contact the web help desk if you require further assistance.
HOW DO I APPLY FOR AN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP CARD?
You can either complete the forms for your card in person, at the Hendon campus by calling Simon Papanicolaou on +44 (0)20 8411 5911 and he can do this for you while you wait. Alternatively, we can send you the form and card by post, when we receive the completed form and photo, we will laminate your card and post this back to you. You will need one passport sized photograph of yourself.
